So we’re back at Montana, this time to try their latest hit in town called the Freak Cakes! Taking after their resident freaks – the Freak Shake, is the newest kid on the block that’s ingeniously handcrafted by the good folks and pastry masters at Montana. And you can be sure that this new freak in town has already and still will be enjoying their victory laps up on our Instagram pages!
Just look at this handcrafted masterpiece!
Matcha Black Sesame Freak Cakes ($14.80)
Much like the whimsical experience of crumpets and tea, these Freak Cakes ($14.80) are colourful, extravagant, yet petite. Not to be deceived only by their excellent disposition and pretty good looks, on the inside are layers of sponge cake stuffed with plenty of biscuit toppings, butter cream, and a wide variety of toppings! Just the right touch of poise and class.
Caramel Cookie Butter ($14.80)
We tried the Matcha Black Sesame Freak Cakes topped with Matcha pocky sticks and completed with Matcha buttercream, black sesame frosting, and black sesame white chocolate ganache! Strong in flavour, it was quite overpowering but was extremely satisfying. As a matcha lover, this is probably one you should try for yourself! Other interesting creations include the Caramel Cookie Butter and the Coffee Kaya Coconut. Prepared ala minute, you can be sure of a fresh and delicious treat.
If you’re not one to stuff yourselves with desserts first, Montana also has a wide spread of food items to match. Ranging from pastas, burgers, and infused-waffles. Read more of our review of their menu here.
Definitely also try out their new items on the menu below!
Miso Brown Butter Linguine ($15.80)
Peking Chicken Confit with Waffle ($16.50)
Braised Beef Cheek with Carrot Kimchi ($20.80)
One of the most raved item of the night was the Braised Beef Cheek being so effortlessly tender and flavourful- paired with carrot kimchi mash that simple melts in my mouth.
