The Mid-Autumn Festival is once again upon us, and this year it’s no surprise to see so many new and interesting flavours. Celebrated on the 15th day of the eight month of the Chinese Lunar calendar, the mooncake festival is by far one of the most competitive seasons all year round, with each brand coming up with a range of adventurous flavours, all clad in different presentation styles. Whether it’s a luscious snow skin mooncake or your traditional hand-crafted ones, there’s definitely a favourite one for everyone. Here we’ve curated a guide to get your mooncake fix this 2016.
One of Singapore’s most well-loved artisan dessert cafes, Bakerzin, presents a selection of eight different range of mooncakes and more than 15 flavours to choose from this year. Themed as the ‘Infinite Memories Mooncake Collection’, Bakerzin has brought back its retro Osmanthus designed metal tin packaging, symbolizing abundance, grace, happiness and blissful reunion. Ideal as gifts, the mooncakes are packaged in metal tins that magically transports youback to yesteryears, perfect to keep as a memorabilia.
Our favourites for this season include Bakerzin’s assorted classic mooncakes, the traditional premium egg yolk and classic Melon Seed mooncakes encased in a fragrant buttery shell.
If you prefer something a little different, Bakerzin’s new collection of the Egg Custard Mooncake is a simple yet satisfying treat to have with a creamy egg custard centre wrapped in a layer of delicate baked skin.
Bakerzin 2016 Mooncake Collections will go on sale from 1 August 2016 until 8 September 2016. They are available for online order at www.bakerzin.com, at all Bakerzin and Nom La La by Bakerzin outlets in Singapore, and at all Bakerzin Mid-Autumn Festival Booths. Early Bird Discount of 10% is happening now to 31 August 2016. HSBC and DBS/POSB Card Members enjoy 15% discount (on top of the early bird discount) from 1 August to 15 September 2016.
