From the people who brought you Assembly Coffee, behold the Atlas Coffeehouse, a new venture has been brewing in the neighbourhood along Bukit Timah area. Located on Duke’s Road and just a 5 minutes walk away from Botanic Gardens MRT station, this new café cum coffeehouse has been making its rounds with many café goers.
Opened in mid-January 2016, our humble visit last weekend saw the café packed to its brim overflowing with many visitors. Furnished with a mix of marble and wooden tables, Atlas Coffeehouse gives the impression of a casual and communal dining place. The interior is clad in a dark blue shade, designed together with a very high ceiling and hanging lamps.
Creamy Mushrooms on Sourdough with Scrambled Egg – $14 + $3 for egg
One of the most popular items on the menu, the Creamy Mushrooms on Sourdough is a combination of mushrooms drenched in white wine, toasted sourdough and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. A very hearty plate for brunch, equally appetizing for the eyes and tastebuds! Ordering this dish also comes along with optional top-up inclusions, and we topped up $3 for additional scrambled eggs. Perfect to eat with crisp sourdough toast with the generous creamy eggs seasoned consistently – making each bite a rich delight.
Next up on the list is the Summer Chicken Stew. Though quite a different approach to the usual brunch affair, the slow-roasted chicken thigh was a comforting dish. The portion served was quite huge and can be shared between two. We enjoyed the tender chicken thigh which is served alongside herbed potatoes, carrots and sun-dried tomatoes.
The Shoestring Truffle Fries ($8) we ordered as our side dish looks deceivingly simple, but they are so addictive! Though I would prefer it to be more evenly coated with truffle oil.
With a smooth finish and a subtle bitterness aftertaste, the Flat White at Atlas Coffeehouse makes a good cuppa!
If you’re ever in the Bukit Timah area, I definitely recommend checking this place out for their delectable brunch items and sweet treats. A pity we didn’t manage to try their desserts, but we’ll definitely be back for their waffles and pancakes! Consider to also come in a group as they serve pretty generous portions. Overall, it seems that they are doing right with the introduction of Atlas Coffeehouse, definitely brought their A-game to the table.
