If you ever find yourself exploring the North Bridge Road / Arab Street district, recommend making a pit stop at Symmetry at Jalan Kubor for brunch, lunch or tea-time. We’ve always wanted to visit Symmetry for as long as we could remember, but never actually made a trip down. We’ve heard good reviews about the food and chill atmosphere – true enough, it was what we expected and an enjoyable afternoon.
Indoor area of Symmetry
We had some time during the long CNY weekend and visited Symmetry on the 3rd day of the new year. Even though it was a Monday afternoon (after 2pm), it was still pretty crowded. We did not make any reservations but thankfully only waited for 10 minutes before we were ushered to our seats. At Symmetry, you can choose to dine indoors or at the alfresco area.
Outdoor area of Symmetry
We preferred the latter mainly because it was much more relaxed, open and great to people-watch / scenery-watch. On the inside, the cafe offers a cozy, modern atmosphere that serves French-styled sharing plates, global mains and weekend brunch.
Here are some highlights of the food we ordered!
Crab Eggs Benedict ($28)
Albeit the hefty price tag, the Crab Eggs Benedict is worth trying mainly for it’s perfectly cooked eggs – on top of a lightly toasted muffin, a side of avocado puree, salad and tater tots. While the portion could be a little more, we really savoured the fleshy chunks of crabmeat hidden beneath the layer of eggy-goodness!
Hickory Corned Beef & Hash ($26)
Another main we ordered is the Hickory Corned Beef & Hash ($26). First impressions – the portion is huge and looks really appetising. The dish is fully loaded with corned beef, potatoes, eggs, mustard, gherkins, shallots, tomatoes and more. It’s very filling, flavourful and makes a good sharing platter.
Overall, though the food at Symmetry is more on the pricier side, their food was fantastic. Add to the chill vibes at the outdoor area and a very attentive service team, it’s a great cafe worth returning to.
