It’s that time of the year again, Mother’s Day – the one time when children rush to think about how they can repay their mums for the countless of things they’ve done for us. Give our noble mothers a well-deserved break from their cooking-duty and pamper her with Caffé B’s luxurious 5-course Mother’s Day Menu. Let the fine Italian-Japanese cuisine express your love for the most important woman in your life.
Chicken & Honshimeiji Mushroom Terrine
Treat mum to an assortment of the best of Italian culinary creations starting with an antipasto of Chicken & Honshimeiji Mushroom Terrine, a perfect blend of coarsely chopped chicken, mushrooms, pistachio and confit of carrot.
Next up on the menu is a nourishing bowl of Venus Clam Soup. A fairly simple looking dish but has bountiful amounts of nutrients rich in iron. The moniker ‘Venus’ is also aptly used here, seeing how it alludes to the motherly figure in the Roman mythology. A very tasty dish that’s quite similar to a nutritious tonic soup.
The Risotto served at Caffé B had a very creamy texture, and you can really taste the intricate elements of Italian meets Japanese. The toppings of parmesan, edamame, pine nuts and pineapple made for a burst of flavours with every bite.
We had 2 main courses to choose from. For meat lovers, prepare for a delicious succulent Beef Vol-au-vent. These bite-sized Black Angus tenderloin and duck liver is packed in a tasty pastry pocket. First impressions were on the size – pretty small portion but they were quite flavourful.
My personal favourite is the Poached King Prawn, poached in white wine and caramelized sake-infused onions. This was quite lavishly prepared as it is further topped with caviar, and you can actually taste the fine differences of the premium king prawn – packed with a little bit more of sweetness. Fresh and succulent.
You can also look forward to their dessert of Hazelnut Meringue Apple Tower. Served with a scoop of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, the caramelized apple tower was not overly sweet – particularly because of the balance of flavours from the berries and raspberry coulis.
This five-course Mother’s Day Menu at Caffe B is available from 1st to 8th May, priced at $100++ per person with an optional wine pairing for each course at $50++. If you fancy a good range of Italian wines to go alongside your meals, I strongly recommend opting for this too – that’s 4 glasses of wine served (to be paired with starter, risotto, main course and dessert).
Here’s wishing all mothers a very Happy Mothers’ Day!
