Gelato is always a great idea, especially for the humid weather here in Singapore. Alfero Artisan Gelato aims to bring the experience of homemade Italian gelato using the best quality ingredients.
Served at a lower temperature as compared to ice cream, the gelato at Alfero Artisan is a blissful blend of flavours and elastic textures. I don’t usually opt for gelato but when I do, the dense and milky texture calls for an intense taste experience, honing back to one of Italy’s great culinary creations.
The interior at Alfero Artisan is decked in black walls with chalk-board style graffiti, paired with dimly-lit lighting. Tucked among other F&B venues in the basement of Orchard Gateway, it is a small and cosy place to dine in.
Gelato here does have a distinct difference in terms of the taste and texture, with the gelato being silky smooth and creamy. The texture was more on the richer side, making them so enjoyable! I particularly enjoyed the Bacio (Hazelnut) flavour which comes with a strong nutty flavour and a hint of sweetness – similar to Ferroro Rocher.
The Pistachio flavour was another one we enjoyed, presented in its vivid earthy green colours. A sweet and nutty combination.
For those who fancy a lighter and icy citrus flavour, the mango will be the absolute choice. With its ever so refreshing burst, it is definitely a crowd favourite. I love that it’s so smooth and incredibly creamy, yet there’s no cream in it – going back to the precise preparation of the gelato, with no pulp or fibres ensuring pure consistency.
The waffles served at Alfero Artisan are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a wonderful accompaniment to the gelato. With a fluffy and airy middle, it’s everything a waffle should be.
