We’ve only just celebrated Christmas and a brand New Year, and now it’s time for another celebration! Lunar New Year is around the corner and it’s time to welcome the Year of the Tiger with auspicious and prosperous beginnings. Le Matin Patisserie always amazes us with their creations and this Chinese New Year they have curated 5 new bakes for the festive occasion – Chrysanthemum and Pear Custard Flan, Hae Bee Hiam Laminated Donut Roll, Kumquat and Sea Buckthorn Danish, Lacto-Fermented Pineapple Galette & Sweet Potato and Yuzu Brioche Bun. 


Kumquat and Sea Buckthorn
– Danish Sourdough pastry baked with a Kumquat and Sea Buckthorn Jam, glazed with Vanilla & Apricot, then topped with a creamy Mandarin Custard and Semi-Dried confit Kumquat slices.

Hae Bee Hiam Laminated Donut Roll – A savoury donut roll filled with a Hae Bee Hiam Cream Cheese Custard, rolled in Parmesan and Shrimp Floss, and topped with a Crispy Fried Shrimp.nWe love how interesting and delightful this savoury pastry is!

Marks & Spencer continues to keep the magic alive this Lunar New Year with exclusive products and a brand-new makeover for Percy Pig. Welcome a prosperous Year of the Tiger with mouth-watering candy box treats and cheers to treasured moments with family and friends with M&S’s wide selection of award-winning wines expertly matched by wine specialists.

You can also whip up Marks & Spencer’s original recipes for a mouth-watering Lunar New Year meal and invite luck and wealth into the new year. We tried making their Roasted Chicken Traybake recipe which was so easy to follow and fuss-free. All the ingredients for the recipe can be bought at Marks & Spencer too!

4. Mr Bean

A cheery New Year starts with these festive treats from Mr Bean – all uniquely made with soy flour and baked fresh in Singapore. From bestsellers to classic favourites, enjoy these delectable and healthier CNY treats!

These golden beauties come with a sweet fibrous pineapple jam filling carefully encased in each tart – definitely an indulgence with each bite.

Each set is beautifully packed with a fortune cookie, seafood and poultry dishes to signify abundance and a better year in luck, wealth and career.

For the Oriental Treasure Feasting Box, we chose the Marigold menu which comes with Seafood Fortune Cantonese Noodles, Breaded Scallop, Braised Tofu with mushrooms, Roasted Chicken with Plum sauce and Steamed Fish with Ginger-Soy. The Steamed Fish with Ginger-Soy is the highlight of this box. We enjoyed how fresh and tender the fish was.The Peach Blossoms menu from their Abundance box was delicious too, it comes with Black Pepper Chicken Udon, Gyoza, Garlic Soy baked Salmon, Spicy Jellyfish Salad, and Scallop with Chilli Crab sauce.

Blossoms Opulence: Peony – comes with Scallop Fried Rice with Crispy Garlic, Fish Roe Fortune Bag, Dang Gui Roasted Duck, Golden Cereal Prawns and Spinach with 10-head Abalone.

9. Santi’s Pizza

Santi’s Pizza pulls out all the stops this Chinese New Year with a Bak Kwa Pizza ($28), a collaborative cocktail with Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall and their line-up of pantry staples that will elevate your reunion dinners.

If you love bakkwa, then you’ll definitely love this Bakkwa pizza – this one-of-a-kind pizza comes with a few different toppings such as San Marzano tomatoes, smoked scamorza, sauteed leeks, lychee, spicy chilli oil and bak kwa. And surprisingly it tastes pretty good! 


Besides their appetising pizza options, they also have these Beer Marinated Chicken Drumsticks ($18) – a great accompaniment to the Bakkwa pizza.

These Chinese New Year specials are available exclusively from now till 13th February 2022. Both are available for dine-in, with the Bak Kwa pizza also available online.

10. Umisushi

Assembled in the shape of a tiger, this is Umisushi’s Huat Huat Yu Sheng ($98.88) which spotlights Norwegian salmon slices (18 pcs), hand-shredded fresh vegetables and traditional Yu Sheng condiments, complemented with a tangy drizzle of plum sauce! ?

Their popular Golden Majestic Sushi Platter ($78.88) is also not to be missed. There’s 48 pieces of sushi including salmon tangerine sushi, futomaki, homemade tamago, spicy salmon gunkan, shingoki mayo gunkan (Japanese crab stick, tamago, cucumber), Norwegian salmon sushi, aburi Norwegian salmon sushi, gold ingot sushi, smoked duck sushi, mini California roll and aonoriko lobster salad maki roll.

11. Curry Times


Old Chang Kee’s sister brand – Curry Times has recently launched its new series of halal-certified Chinese New Year Celebration Menu. This CNY, they have created 2 new curry dishes as well as a new Yu Sheng individual platter to cater to a smaller group of dine-in patrons.

Pineapple Curry Chicken ($11.80++)

Curry Times has crafted a new double fortune CNY curry dish using the sweet and auspicious pineapple fruit to complement its signature curry – Pineapple Curry Chicken or Prawns.

Pineapple Curry Prawns ($12.80++)

Both are a refreshing take to complement their signature curry, using the sweetness of the pineapple to counterbalance the spiciness. Each set also comes with a single portion of rice and a Winter Melon drink which completes our meal perfectly.

Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng ($38.80++)

They also serve Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng with portions for up to 5 pax, we enjoyed how refreshing and delicious it is!

Dine-in, takeaway and delivery options are available for both Yu Sheng and Pineapple Curry dishes from 22 Jan to 15 Feb 2022.
