Hotel G Singapore – 5 Reasons To Stay At This Boutique Hotel

It’s been more than a year since our last trip to Japan – and we’ve really missed travelling. So when Phase 3 was finally announced, we couldn’t miss out on going for a staycation here in Singapore! Many hotels have also recently reopened their booking reservations, and thankfully we found a deal that’s value for money. We stayed at Hotel G Singapore during the Valentine’s Day period and checked in for a 2-night stay. There are many plus points when staying at this centrally-located boutique property, and if you’re looking for a staycation option to experience some form of “travelling” again, here are our 5 reasons to stay at Hotel G.

1. Value for money

If value for money is something you’re looking for, then Hotel G might be the right fit. We booked The Great G package and it comes with everything you need for a memorable staycation. At just $145++ per room per night, the package comes with a one-night stay in a king-bedded Great Room, a complimentary bottle of champagne, dining vouchers at Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar, and a fun prop box that you can have fun taking photos with. There’s also complimentary late check-out at 2pm and complimentary parking coupon for those driving. With all that added perks, you’ll certainly get your money’s worth!

2. Nearby shopping, dining and entertainment enclave

Subhan Street (near to Arab Street)

Hotel G is located in close proximity to 4 MRT stations (Bencoolen, Rochor, Bugis, and Dhoby Ghaut) – means that accessibility is at every turn. The property sits between Orchard Road and Bugis, and there are literally tons of food, cafes, bars, shops, entertainment, museums and parks to check out. Looking at the map, you can segment your day based on the different districts – each within a 10-15 minutes walking distance away from the hotel. Here are some day itineraries you can explore while staying at Hotel G.

Half-day exploration: For those who have half a day to explore, the area covering the stretch of Middle Road, Bencoolen Street and Bugis Street offers great food and drink options, hawker, shopping, massage, arts and places of worship (temples). You can also get your essential supplies and necessities from nearby 7-11 (Fortune Centre) and FairPrice Xpress (Peace Centre).

Brunch date at Symmetry

Full-day exploration: If you have a full day ahead of you, recommend heading towards Arab Street / Kampong Glam district where cafes, eateries and colourful Malay heritage thrives. Some of the notable cafes to visit on our list are Mother Dough, Twenty Grammes Cafe, Tolido’s Espresso Nook, Durian BB, Rich & Good Cake Shop and Symmetry. We had a great cafe date at Symmetry – read our Symmetry review here. A day is definitely not enough to explore every cafe, so we’ll definitely be back for the rest! Alternatively, head North from the hotel towards Little India / Jalan Besar area, for more dining options any time of the day!

Drinks & Nightlife: For drinks and nightlife in the evening, Prinsep Street and Selegie Road offer an enclave of bars to wind down the evening. Alternatively, recommend making a reservation at Ginett located on the ground floor of the hotel. They serve trendy modern French fare with affordable wine options to suit every palate.

3. Simple, modern rooms

There are 308 well-appointed rooms at Hotel G, affordably priced across 4 configurations of GOOD ROOM (11-13sqm), GREAT ROOM (15-16sqm), GREATER ROOM (27sqm) and FAMILY ROOM (24sqm). Despite the compact rooms, there’s a cosy feel to it and you can snuggle up in bed while watching a movie. We spent most of our time here and ordered food back to the hotel to enjoy in the comforts.

The rooms are simple and tidy, and we had everything we needed for a restful night. There are many space-saving features too such as the wall hooks and bars with hangers, and even a space underneath the bed to store your luggage and personal belongings in a safe deposit box. Those with a larger suitcase will find the space really convenient! In terms of amenities and entertainment in the room, there’s a flat-screen smart TV and upscale toiletries, free Wi-Fi, USB power ports, hairdryers, and a kettle to boil hot water. You can also download newspapers and magazines for free.

4. 2 F&B spots at your doorstep

25 Degrees

Besides offering an ideal retreat for fun and relaxation, Hotel G also houses two restaurants serving reasonably-priced food and drinks. Both located at street level, offer a starkly different atmosphere – here are some highlights from their laid-back burger and liquor bar – 25 Degrees as well as a casual French restaurant, Ginett (where breakfast is served daily).

Ginett

At Ginett, you can look forward to lunch sets and a selection of tapas, cold cuts and sharing platters in the day. Once night falls, grab a seat at the bar top to enjoy some of the chef’s curated recipes and large selection of wines.

25 Degrees

At 25 Degrees, you can look forward to mouth-watering gourmet burgers, fries, shakes and more, originating all the way from Los Angeles. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a classic burger joint – and perfect for any time of the day. Here are some of the burger options we chose – each one comes with a thick slab of beef patty, your favourite toppings and a perfectly toasted bun. Oh yes, don’t miss their fries and milkshakes too!

5. Instagram-worthy spots and a Beautifully-designed Gym

Fully-equipped gym

Inspiration for your Instagram feed? Look no more. At Hotel G, there’s a few spots at the lobby area, stairwell, entranceway and even the corridor of the hotel to grab a photo at. We love the exposed industrial look, coupled with wood tones, concrete, bold furniture accents and bits of greenery all around the hotel. The hotel places a huge emphasis on art and design, so recommend bringing your camera or phones to snap an #OOTD before starting your day.

One of the more unusual spaces to get your ‘gram on at Hotel G is at the gym. At level 3, you’ll be greeted with a beautifully-designed fitness centre. From the moment you step into the gym, it feels like you have been transported back into the golden era – with dark teal walls, vintage cabinets, neon lights, old-school pictures of athletes and more. The gym is also equipped with everything you need for a full body workout, including Techno-gym treadmills, bikes, elliptical, climbers, wellness balls, weights, punching bags and more.

Overall, a staycation at Hotel G Singapore is great for couples who are looking to explore the surrounding vicinities, while indulging in cafe food, restaurants or having a bit of nightlife with the enclave of bars. Coupled with an attentive service team, cosy rooms and an excellent central location, Hotel G might be your next go-to boutique hotel to stay at.
