A Very SweetEscape In Kyoto, Japan

A very Happy New Year to all! We’re back and ready to get 2020 started with a ton of changes and new beginnings! While we get that in motion very soon, here’s a recap of our last 2 weeks of 2019 – where we spent our honeymoon in Japan! It was such an amazing 2 weeks celebrating both Christmas and New Year there – travelled to so many cities and we loved each one of it so much – especially Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and Hakone. The culture, food and people are just so amazing and we can’t wait to be back.

While in Japan, we also wanted to capture our beautiful memories and what better way to do that than with a local photographer? We had the chance to experience SweetEscape’s unique photography service first-hand and it was so much fun. If you haven’t heard of them before, SweetEscape is a photography service that connects holiday-goers with local professional photographers at their destination. We love the idea so much – it’s like your very own personal photographer following you around as you explore the city.

SweetEscape is really simple to start too – connecting you to tens of thousands of photographers across 500 cities around the world. Ideal for any occasion, all you have to do is just head to their website, choose your destination and selected session time, and make the online payment. It’s that easy, and after you’ve confirmed the booking, you’ll be assigned a curated photographer based on availability at your chosen destination. Each of their photographers has been carefully selected – so you can be assured of a friendly and reliable photographer to be there with you! Each session are either 1 or 2 hours depending on the city you’re in (price starts from US$120 onwards), and you can also book multiple sessions if required. After the shoot, the photos will be professionally edited in just 48 hours.

As we’re travelling to Kyoto, the city was definitely our choice destination to have our photoshoot with numerous historical sites, Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, gardens and culture immersed in every corner. We downloaded the SweetEscape app (which will be your main communication with the photographers and also where you’ll be able to download your photos), and we were matched with the very talented Keiko! We communicated mainly via the app, and discussed the meeting point, timing to meet, outfit ideas and style of photos too. As it was our first time in Kyoto, she was so accommodating to our questions and made us feel comfortable – giving us the assurance of capturing our memories in the best spots in the city!

Here are some of our favourite shots beautifully capture by Keiko!
