Top 5 Hawker Food To Order From WhyQ (hawker food delivery service)

There are many delivery services and apps out there, but rarely do we see a delivery app that delivers hawker food! Step in WhyQ, a hawker food delivery service which targets hungry office workers in the Central Business District (CBD), Changi and One North areas. Since then, they’ve also expanded their delivery services to other parts of Singapore, serving residential areas from hawker centres like Chomp Chomp, Ci Yuan, Old Airport Road and many others. The best part is they do not require a minimum order and charge low delivery fees from just $1.50, unlike other delivery companies who may have a minimum order requirement.

Another great thing about ordering from WhyQ is that you can order from popular one-Michelin-starred stalls without having to queue! There are over 1,000 hawker stalls to choose from and a wide variety of options from the various hawker centres like Maxwell, Chomp Chomp, Amoy Food Centre, Tiong Bahru market and many more. We tried their service last week and here’s our top 5 stalls to order from WhyQ.

1. Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee – Curry Chicken Noodles ($5)

For those working near the Telok Ayer/China Square area, you are probably familiar with Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee at Hong Lim Complex Food Centre. There are always long queues during lunch time rush hour, and for a good reason! Besides the plenty of ingredients like tau pok, fish cake, potato and chicken meat, our favourite part is soaking and slurping the curry. A little spicy but so worth it.

2. BURGS By Project Warung – The Classic ($5.50)

If you’re looking for halal burgers, head down to BURGS at Golden Mile Food Centre for quality gourmet burgers at affordable price tags. We ordered The Classic, which comes with a handcrafted beef patty, Burg’s signature sauce, pickled green chilli, American cheese and crispy fried shallots. There’s a choice of Single ($4.50) or Double ($7) and with a side of fries or salad. Even though it was delivered to our office, the burger remained plump and fresh – each bite is super satisfying and worth a visit.

3. Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee – Fried Kway Teow ($4.50)

It’s no surprise that this stall makes the list in our top 5 hawker food to order from WhyQ. If you love your occasional Fried Kway Teow, this is a stall you have to try from. The long queues might be a deterrence for some, so recommend going early or simply order from WhyQ if you hate to wait. For $4.50 a plate it comes with cockles, beansprouts, a few bits of lard and noodles. Our plate didn’t have much wok hei but the texture is really creamy and addictive.

4. Ramen Taisho – Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen ($8.30)

Located at Maxwell Food Centre, Ramen Taisho serves a pretty decent value-for-money bowl of ramen. We ordered the Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen ($8.30), which comes with noodles, cha shu, seaweed, egg and spring onions. The broth is rich and thick yet not overly salty, and each bowl comes with 3 pieces of cha shu which was more on the leaner side. You can also add on an egg for an extra $1.

5. Tuck Kee (Ipoh) – Crayfish Prawn Hor Fun ($10.50)

Last but not least is a very special hawker food at an extremely reasonable price tag. The Crayfish Prawn Hor Fun from Tuck Kee (Ipoh) Sah Hor Fun is value for money, with the considerably large portion of crayfish. Be prepared to wait though, as queues can get quite long. We’ve ordered this a couple of times before and the rice flour noodles was always consistently prepared. If seafood is not your thing, they also offer chicken hor fun at $5 per plate.
