In need of a total body cleanse? We recently got our hands on a 3-day ‘soup + juice’ cleanse from Punch Detox and we can’t wait to share all about it.
Our bodies have a natural way of detoxing themselves – however, these toxins are everywhere. From the processed foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the chemicals we use; and on top of that our hectic lifestyles that diminishes our body’s natural ability to eliminate toxins. Most of us do not eat enough fruits or vegetables on a daily basis and may often feel lethargic or fall sick easily.
We first heard about Punch Detox from a friend and was especially intrigued by their soup + juice cleanse. We were familiar with the 6 bottles per day routine having done a couple of juice cleanse in the past, but hadn’t heard about a soup part before. So it was pretty neat when we knew we were going to nourish our bodies with almost 9kg worth of fruits and vegetables!
Pre-cleanse
Before the programme, it was recommended to eliminate consuming certain products to get the most out of the cleanse, such as:
- Caffeine
- Meat
- Dairy Products
- Alcohol
- Nicotine
- Sodas
- Refined sugars
- Gluten
- Processed foods
- Fast foods
It was also recommended to conduct the programme over the weekend or have a buddy join you. So of course I got my partner on board too – timely as our ROM was right around the corner!
What we drank
- 4 cold pressed juice + 2 raw vegan soups (lunch, supper)
- Since it’s made with vegetables, these soups are naturally alkaline, low on the glycemic scale and suitable for customers who are concerned with fruit sugars.
- For those who need a bit more substance or on a longer fast.
- The ingredients were chosen for their freshness, nutritional value, detoxing properties and taste.
There were a total of 18 x 500ml bottles to complete, recommended to consume every 2-3 hours.
1. Citrus Punch (Lemon, Ginger, Cayenne Pepper, Agave Nectar, Filtered Water)
Our very first bottle came as a shock for us. Known for its universal “master” cleansing drink, the Citrus Punch is the perfect way to wake up your digestive system – lemons to dissolve toxins in your body and ginger/cayenne pepper to build heat to get your metabolism and circulatory system going. We personally didn’t like the aftertaste due to the spiciness of the ginger and pepper but it was refreshing no doubt.
My partner on the other hand came to like it because of that ‘kick’ or ‘punch’ it gives in the morning, fueling him for the rest of the day!
2. Green Punch (Celery, Kale, Cucumber, Bitter Melon, Parsley, Spirulina, Green Apple)
Next up, the Green Punch – stocked with a bunch of greens which are high in vitamins and minerals. As we were still pretty full from our first 500ml juice, we took our time to finish this and I must say, this was one of the most delicious juices and we looked forward to having it each morning. These greens are also highly alkalizing to your cells – this counters the damage done by the corrosive acidic waste products from meat, sugar, dairy and other toxic foods.
3. Garden Punch (Baby Spinach, Avocado, Cilantro, Pistachio Avocado Oil, Lime, Sea Salt)
This was the first of the savoury soups, the Garden Punch which comes in a lovely bright green hue. Aptly named, it is blended with all things green and loaded with hearty, healthy, fatty acids that helps lower cholesterol. It is also high in fibre, low in carbohydrates – two attributes that help promote weight loss. The juice felt heavy and took a while to consume.
4. Carrots Punch (Carrot, Ginger, Coconut, Turmeric, Lime, Sea Salt)
The Carrots Punch is a perky soup that will wake up your digestive system. Typically, carrots are high in antioxidants while turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that relieves flatulence and rheumatoid arthritis. This was extremely yummy and one of our favourites of the 6 bottles.
5. GazPuncho Punch (Tomato, Cucumber, Cilantro, Garlic, Sea Salt, Cider Vinegar, Olive Oil, Cayenne Pepper)
The GazPuncho is one of their signature juices and tastes really delicious. The combination of cilantro, tomato chunks and cayenne pepper fires up your metabolism and blood circulation. We also had the option to heat it up and have it like a bowl of soup which was great to break down the repetitive routine – definitely motivated us to keep going.
6. Nut Punch (Raw Cashew, Raw Almond, Cinnamon, Agave Nectar, Sea Salt, Filtered Water)
The Nut Punch is like that wonderful dessert after a meal. It’s creamy and I especially enjoy the not overly sweet combination of the agave nectar and sea salt. It’s also one of the more filling juices particularly for its good fat and protein content from the cashew and almonds.
Verdict:
Overall, the experience trying Punch Detox is unlike other juice cleanse programmes we’ve tried before. It’s definitely easier, with the same benefits – particularly for their daily emails encouraging us to complete the programme. We really enjoyed the entire experience – we felt lighter and more energised. We have also became more careful with our meals, recommend trying their 3-day juice cleanse for those seeking to make a change in their lifestyle.
Before the cleanse, we were informed that we may experience several detox symptoms like headaches, vomiting, lethargy, runny nose, nausea, diarrhea – among many others. The intensity of the detox symptoms typically differ depending on the pre-cleanse levels, so definitely recommend doing a good job at your pre-cleanse stage. Thankfully, we did not feel most of the detox symptoms, though I must say that Day 1 felt the most challenging to us. Given the option on whether we’ll attempt this juice cleanse again, a definite YES for both of us!
Punch’s new Soup+Juice Cleanse is available as a 1 day (S$120 incl. delivery) or 3 day cleanse (S$330 incl. delivery).
