Being Singapore’s longest established revolving restaurant, Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant is celebrating its 40th anniversary with several new creatively inspired dim sums and their authentic Beijing dishes; all of which are going at promotional prices.
My family always spends time together on Sundays and I love how Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant added to the experience, giving us stunning panoramic views of the CBD, port and the sea. It was indeed a very relaxing afternoon!
Nestled in the midst of Prima’s flour milling factory and warehouses, we were greeted with quite a daunting entrance with the restaurant’s iconic logo in full view. However, the inside is completely different – we had to take a lift up to the 9th floor, where the experience took a literal 360 degrees turn with the gorgeous view of Singapore’s skyline!
We were fortunate to try some of their dishes including the much-loved Peking Duck and the tasty Shredded Scallops with Fish and Egg White. We kicked off our nostalgic lunch affair with some quality dim sum and here are our top five dishes that you must try in your next visit!
1. Steamed Pumpkin Lava Bun
The Steamed Pumpkin Lava Bun 南瓜流沙包 ($5.80) was somewhat unique and different from the typical Golden Lava Bun (流沙包). We waited a while before trying this but it was still runny and smooth. The sweetness and aroma of the pumpkin complemented well with the soft and fluffy bun.
2. Black Garlic & Fish Roe Shrimp Dumpling
These little dumplings (3 for $7.80) are indeed a work of art. We could taste the freshness of each ingredient and the meticulous work of the chef – succulent prawns topped with fish roe for the added flavour.
3. Steamed Rice Roll with Squid & You Tiao
A typical dish to have at the table, this steamed rice roll or chee cheong fun ($6.80) had just the right amount of skin and wasn’t too starchy. Usually served plain, with prawns or other ingredients, we tried with the squid filling and it was really good. Topped with sesame seeds and light soya.
4. Authentic Barbecued Peking Duck
We tried the signature dishes too, the Peking duck ($40, u.p. $65) which is served with an option of rice flour crepe or egg crepe (additional $8 for 2 types of crepe). There’s lots of traditional flavours if you’re craving for that authentic roll, with the crispy skin of the roast duck wrapped in a thin Chinese-style pancake. The option for rice flour crepe or egg crepe is on promotion and valid till 30 November 2017.
5. Shredded Scallops with Fish & Egg White
A simple looking dish that may look unappetizing at first, this is also one of the restaurant’s signature dish and a must try as an appetizer or with rice/noodles. There’s other variations I’ve tried before with vegetables, but the flavour still remains the same with shredded scallops, fish and egg white!
